Education

China: Education fund for Priests from China to study Theology at University of St. Thomas Houston, Texas. Chaired by Father Donald Nesti, CSSp, the fund aims to bring Chinese priests and sisters to Houston for graduate study so they can return home to better evangelize. Father Yifu Lyu, its first student brought from China, is in his first year pursuing an masters of arts in Faith and Culture at the Reverend Donald Nesti Center for Faith and Culture in the University of St. Thomas in Houston. France: Museum of African Arts, Allex (A collection of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit); for over one hundred years, the Spiritans have brought back art from the places in Africa where they have lived and worked. A museum of African art is being created in Allex, France, providing an educational tool that helps to explore intercultural relatedness. The museum provides a valuable resource where people of African descent now living in France or visiting from abroad may explore, and deepen their knowledge and understanding of their rich artistic heritage.

Haiti: An ambitious two-year project has begun to reconstruct the secondary section of St. Martial College, established in 1865 in Port-au-Prince. Tanzania: St. Jude’s primary school building is under construction and completing the project is the parish’s highest priority. Recently, boy scouts from the U.K. spent three weeks in construction but the classrooms still aren’t ready for students. Tanzania: St. Luke’s Pre and Primary School Endulen Catholic Mission need for tables, chairs, desks.  Opened in January 2017 with 38 students. If you wish to contribute to this project click here and enter –  St. Luke’s Endulen – where it says dedicate your generous gift.

Evangelization

Haiti: Seminary College of St. Martial’s priest residence is in need of renovation. The building has suffered wall cracking and foundation settling from earlier earthquakes; the roof and basic plumbing require updating, and there is a need to add three new bedrooms to the second floor. Tanzania : St. Jude Health Center: within the St. Jude parish, there is a small health center that serves the surrounding community. The single building is approximately 1,500 square feet and all of the space is currently utilized. There are only a few toilets and showers reserved for those patients who are staying in the health center. Tanzania: Construction of refugee housing, renovation and enlargement of bathroom facilities at Refugee Center in Kigomo.
