Duquesne University 28th annual Spring Clean-UpThe Duquesne University 28th annual Spring Clean-Up was held on Saturday, April 16th, 2016. It rallied Duquesne University students, staff and faculty members to work alongside community members in the Greater Hill District and South Side neighborhoods. As the groups work toward a cleaner, greener city, they also work on building relationships with neighbors through this effort sponsored by Duquesne's Spiritan Campus Ministry, in collaboration with community groups. Sponsored by Spiritan Campus Ministry, Spring Clean-Up helps to strengthen Duquesne's longstanding relationship with the greater Pittsburgh community. The event is aimed at raising the consciousness of the participants to the community in which they live, while at the same time showing the greater Pittsburgh community that we care about them Over the last twenty-five years those who have participated in Spring Clean-Up have not only learned more abut the local community but have walked away knowing that they have made a difference in the community. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges acknowledge Duquesne's commitment to sustainability.
The Spiritans in CaliforniaThe Spiritans in California - The Parishes in Hemet - 15:14 Hemet, Riverside county's, San Jacinto valley, about 45 miles west of Palm Springs. There, the Spiritans currently manage two parishes: Our Lady Of The Valley and Holy Spirit Catholic Community Church. Hemet retains its status as a retirement community but today, with 60% hispanophone and 40% anglophone, it is also home for more and more young families, mostly from Mexican origins, who provide the senior population with services or are fleeing from the more urbanized areas of Southern CA. Trying to bring them in a whole community is a real challenge, there are growth and transition pains, but the Spiritans in Hemet, strong with their intercultural and international missionary experience, are fit to help their flock to overcome prejudices and learn to become appreciative of cultural differences.

Duquesne University Fr. Sawicki- Simulex 2015 -DU Simulex 2015 - 09:23 Simulex (simulation experience) Duquesne is a week-end long program held each spring. Through Duquesne University, the Spiritans provide an amazing program that brings awareness and wisdom to students who allow themselves to be put under pressure and tested. Their aim is to find the best resolution for peace. As Fr. Sawicki puts it: “The great value of Simulex is that it teaches the ability to make decisions in time sensitive manner in a very compressed period of time on very grave situations.
