HOUSTON, TX: April 28, 2015
The Tanzanian Ambassador to the United States, Liberata Mulamula, spoke April 27, 2015 at St. Mary’s Seminary where a reception was held to recognize the success of a Tanzanian pre and primary Catholic School.
The school, Kipawa – Libermann School, located in a slum area of the nation’s capital, Dar es Salaam, is managed by the Spiritans, and serves 341 poor girls and boys.
With the generous support of the Wilkinson Family Foundation the school and associated infrastructure was inaugurated in 2010. Since then the Foundation has funded additional classrooms and a computer lab.
Fr. Joseph Triphon, Cssp., the school’s administrator, traveled to Houston to provide an update on the project and to share the good news of the students’ academic progress.
Ambassador Mulamula arrived from Washington, D.C. to congratulate the partners on the magnificent results being achieved at this model school. She also shared with the attendees her personal education background and the gratitude she has for her Catholic education in primary and secondary school as she grew up in Tanzania.
Local partners on the project are the Unibversity of St. Thomas, the Spiritan Office for Mission Advancement and the Wilkinson Family Foundation.
