HOUSTON, TX: May 1, 2015
During her recent visit to Houston, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula met with Fr. Michael Begley, CSSp. at the Spiritan Office for Mission Advancement to discuss on-going opportunities for collaboration among her office, SOMA and the University of St. Thomas on future projects within Tanzania. Discussions included the new Science University that the Spiritans are initiating at Bagamoyo.
Ambassador Mulamula, herself a product of the a Catholic education on Tanzania, outlined the country’s national development priorities and the role that education plays in that planning.
In his remarks to the Ambassador Fr. Begley commented, “let us agree to maintain ongoing contact so that “together” we can try to make a real practical difference with modest initiatives within the context of the broader aspirations of the educational sector in Tanzania!… we Spiritans have had a long standing tradition across multiple countries of educating and encouraging future leaders! With the advent of the proposed Scholarship Fund, it is our collective hope that Kipawa will eventually produce such national leaders in Tanzania in the future!”
