Leading up to Francis Libermann's Feast Day on February 2, we'll be traveling through his life and see how his calling from God led to a reinvigorated Mission for the Spiritans and pioneered a Missionary Method that we still use today.

Day 3: SETTING OUT ON THE PATH

Having decided that he was dedicated to this new missionary life, Francis Libermann set out right away to make these ideas and dreams a reality. He decided to travel to Rome to further the cause and begin the work of creating a new Congregation.

In his own words: “I want our project to be solid, fervent and apostolic: in other words, a commitment to all or nothing!”

Francis Libermann, having decided to embrace the cause of this fledgling work, did not wait a moment to put himself entirely at its service and to seek the means necessary to advance the project. The Congregation of the Holy Spirit remains dedicated to finding and pursuing "radically new and creative responses to living the Gospel" that require us "to broaden our vision and to take the necessary risks” according to the Preface of the last General Chapter document.
