In his letter to his confreres in the U.S. Province, the provincial writes: “Pope Francis called for a Year of Consecrated Life, which began on the First Sunday of Advent, 2014, and will continue through the World Day of Consecrated Life, February 2, 2016. In an address to leaders of religious congregations, he exhorted them- and the religious they lead- to “wake up the world.”
We have much to give the world through our witness to the Consecrated Life. We are invited to commemorate this year-long celebration by sharing our charism- who we are and what we do with those we serve in our various ministries. Celebrating this year of Consecrated Life, the Spiritan community rejoices in our mission of “evangelizing the poor, going especially to people, groups, and individuals who have not yet heard the message of the Gospel or who have scarcely heard it, to those whose needs are the greatest, and to the oppresses.” (SRL, #4)
May this Feast Day of Francis Libermann bring you joy and hope as you encounter our Living God amid the ordinary moments that you, in turn, make extraordinary. From proclaiming the Good news to the poor around the world, to walking with people in parishes, to inspiring young minds on campus, let’s all offer our actions to God, so that together we can wake up the world in our consecrated lives.”
Happy Feast Day
Fr. Jeff Duaime, CSSp.
