Fr. Paul Flamm, CSSp. has responded to the call of Archbishop of Bangui and the local Spiritan superior in the Central African republic to be part of a team to assess the needs of the tens of thousands of displaced people in the country many of whom are located in various mission compounds in response to the very serious humanitarian situation on the ground in the wake of recent conflicts.
Fr. Paul arrived in Bangui last Friday and reports that “the UN has taken responsibility for the security now. Things seem to have calmed down here in Bangui and people are going about their normal daily affairs. When the U.N. troops get to full strength in February they will spread out to other parts of the country. For now they accompany aid convoys.”
