The years of work in Vietnam led by Provincial Fr. Pat Palmer, CSSp., Fr. Trinh Le, CSSp. and Fr. Frederic Rossignol, CSSp., Fr. Duc Luong, CSSp., Fr. Quoc Le, CSSp., Fr. Joseph Lam, Cssp., and the support of the Vietnamese diaspora are paying big dividends.
At present 45 men occupying three buildings spread throughout Ho Chi Mingh City are studying for the priesthood. This remarkable growth in Spiritan vocations has resulted in plans to purchase property of 500 to 750 square meters and to construct a single Spiritan facility to serve as a base for the superior and the bursar, the postulant community and as a welcoming community for visitors and for confreres returning from Pastoral Missionary Experience and from other studies.
According to Fr. Pat, “within 2 years the first confrere to be trained in Vietnam will be ordained and after that there will be a steady trickle of new Spiritan missionary priests and Brothers, ready to continue the work of the Congregation and of the Church”.
Two funds have been established for this project—land purchase and building.
