We are all connected to a family. Whether by birth or adoption (official or self-chosen), we are all on a journey to discover our truest selves. In this Sunday's Gospel, we are called to enlarge the circle that we call family to include those in need. Jesus invites us to become members of his family.
Human beings can be complicated on so many levels. God looks beyond these differences and finds a place where love can dwell. For this reason, the first question asked in the Genesis passage we read today is so significant. “Where are you?” This question is not just about geography but it is about relationships. Where are we in our relationship with God?
So many people feel unloved and can't imagine that God can love them just as they are. This Sunday, we are reminded, “With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption.” Even in our darkest moments, we can always cry to God, and God will hear our voice.
Where are you today with your relationship with God? How have we welcomed Jesus’ invitation to be a part of his family?
