On this Sunday, the Gospel, reveals Jesus’ power and authority to heal and restore us. We are called to reflect on Jesus’ concern for us. He takes us by the hand and tells us to rise.
Jesus calls us to wholeness that heals us and restores to the community of faith. Today’s Gospel readings says that Jairus asked Jesus for healing on his daughter’s behalf. The woman with the hemorrhage had no one to speak for her but she was willing to take the risk to touch Jesus’ garment.
As Christians, we know that once we have done all we can do, our relationship with Jesus tells us that he will always be present to help us. We can see ourselves in this Gospel. Our faith leads them to seek out Jesus in our deepest moments of need. God desires our healing. We must bring to prayer the concern of our life as well as the lives of others and put them in the hand of the Lord.
The worries and concerns of our human life must not blind us to the love God has for us. It is easy to become overwhelmed by our circumstances. Jesus reminds us that we are bigger than our circumstances and God’s plan for us is bigger than we can ever imagine.
Our faith, our trust in God, our love of God and our willingness to give these things over to Christ must be stronger than anything this world can place before us. Prayer is our act of faith. Let our prayer be, “Jesus, heal us for we need you every hour.”
