In this Sunday’s Gospel, the Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds affirms that God is good! The Gospel tells us that God plants seeds that are good in the field that is the world. We are good seeds. We are called to spread the Good News of God’s kingdom wherever we go.
The affirmation, “God is good, all the time,” gives us hope knowing that human beings are not perfect. Human beings must constantly strive to be good because God created us, and he says that we are good. We must never underestimate the goodness that God calls from each of us. Like these parables we hear today, it only takes a little bit of goodness to change our lives for the good.
As the Gospel transforms us, we discover that it accepts us where we are. However, it never leaves us in the same place. The Gospel always calls us to know better, do better, and live better as we open our hearts to building the Kingdom of God.
No matter how many weeds may be among us, God knows our real value and God will not let the weeds choke us. We must always strive to live according to God’s plan. We must become less judgmental of others, and let things work out according to God’s will. God can work wonders when we realize that God is in control and not us.
