This Sunday is the last Sunday in Ordinary Time. Next Sunday we begin the liturgical season of Advent. Before entering Advent, the Church invites us to recognize Jesus as Christ the King of the Universe.
Jesus’ kingdom is not like the kingdoms of this world. Jesus’ kingdom comes to serve and to save.
Through his death on the Cross Jesus shows himself to be our King and the Savior of us all.
Jesus’ kingdom extends to every place and time to every people. This kingdom invites the greatest and the least to rejoice in what God has done for us through his Son.
When we accept Christ as our King, we are able give priority to Jesus’ teachings as we make choices in our lives. When we love as Jesus taught us, we become his hands and his feet in this world. Christ the king of the Universe reveals his saving power to all the world.
