Last Sunday’s Feast of Pentecost brought the Easter Season to a close. This Sunday, we celebrate the great mystery of God’s love in the Holy Trinity. This feast affirms that God is presented to us in the form of the relationship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Holy Trinity affirms God’s love for the world. This love is the source of our salvation. It is by God’s grace and initiative that a loving relationship is established with all humanity. The Gospel reading for today tells us that “God so loved the world.” It is this love that is the foundation of all Christian belief.
The identity of God is love and unity. This identity gives hope to all who live in fear. In God’s love, he takes away our fears, hurts, and pains. God will not abandon us but will constantly call us back into his love. God continues to breathe new life into our world through the Holy Spirit and Jesus who reminds us of God’s great love for us.
God the creator will not abandon us to our own desires. Our unique relationship with God leads us to embrace the Holy Trinity. We trust in God who is alive and active in all of creation. The spirit of God’s love is in our midst. There is a great hymn that affirms our belief, “God in three persons, Blessed Trinity.”
