The latest grant extended by SOMA is for construction of a water well and retention tanks for the Daniel Brottier Training Centre in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Established in 2006, the Training Centre provides an integrated training structure welcoming learners from underprivileged backgrounds who attend daily and pursue a variety of vocational training programs. Some learners are still young (primary and secondary school pupils), while other learners are adults.
The Training Centre is located in the Kyamfu district, one of the poorest neighborhoods in Kinshasa surrounded by ravines on both sides.
In this neighborhood, accessibility to water is a real problem. There is some water during the rainy season, but this quan
tity is temporary and cannot cover all the needs of the Centre.
The current source of water is located a mile and a half from the Centre, requiring people to carry large plastic containers on the roundtrip that can take up to three hours to complete.
Thanks to your generous prayers and donations, the new well and retention tanks will ensure students and staff have the water they need.
