Pittsburgh, Pa. (June 22, 2018) – Rev. Jeffrey T. Duaime, C.S.Sp., was re-elected as the Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, United States Province, by the Provincial Chapter in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Thursday, June 21.
As Provincial Superior, Fr. Duaime oversees the work and welfare of nearly 100 priests, brothers, seminarians, and Lay Spiritans in the U.S. Province.
The U.S. Province carries out the vision of founders Claude Poullart des Places and Francis Libermann to evangelize the poor and marginalized, globally.
The Provincial Superior was elected by at least two-thirds vote of the Chapter and confirmed by the Congregation’s Superior General in Rome, Rev. John Fogarty, C.S.Sp. The term of the Provincial Superior is three years.
“I am humbled and grateful to continue serving as provincial over the next three years,” says Fr. Duaime. “The Chapter has been a fulfilling and inspiring week of worship, fellowship, planning and renewal, and I am looking forward to collaborating with all members of the Congregation as we continue our work, building community in parts of the world that are often neglected.”
Fr. Duaime’s ministry as a priest has included work in Haitian missions, vocations ministry, congregational leadership and parish and school posts. He served as president of Holy Ghost Preparatory School in Bensalem, Pa., prior to his previous terms as Provincial. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and a Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Union.
