First Classroom Block Opened 2008
With the generous support of the Wilkinson Family Foundation, construction on the Libermann School began in mid-2009 and the school opened in January 2010. The Libermann School has brought English language primary education to the children of this slum/squatters area of Dar es Salaam. In addition to the classrooms, the project included site infrastructure, water wells and tanks, sewage and septic tank systems as well as a new Rectory to house the priests.
The children are receiving a Catholic based primary education where no facility was previously available. The school is tuition paying, however 17% of the families are unable to pay the full year’s tuition. Students are accepted regardless of their religious affiliation and their families take pride in the quality education the children are being afforded.
The Kipawa-Libermann School was recently rated highly by the Tanzanian educational authorities and placed in the top 10 best rated schools in the Ilala District in Dar es Salaam.
In 2014 two additional classrooms and a computer lab were added to the facility.

Eight years later in 2022 a new kitchen was constructed to support the students and staff of the school, and a second 12 classroom was completed. This building includes 18 toilets, with 9 each for girls and boys.

Scholarship Endowment
Support is needed to recognize top achieving students of the school so they can move on to Secondary or High School. As these children come from poor families, they are not able to pay the $2,500 annual fee of higher education. With a 90% scholarship they would be provided with tuition, room/board, medical insurance and uniforms.
Please consider supporting these students who have demonstrated their commitment to improving their lives, the lives of their families, and the community at large.
Tuition Assistance
Seventeen percent of student families are unable to pay the full year’s school tuition. One year of tuition for nursery school costs $275, and for a primary school student, $560. You can relieve the burden of those families and ensure that the school turns away no child regardless of their religion or ability to pay.
