I am sorry to arrive so late, but I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support to the refugees from Ukraine that you have sent to our Province.
Since March 1, we have been welcoming women and children who have been forced to leave their husbands' homes and their country because of the cruelty of war. Thanks to the help of many people, several million refugees have found refuge in Poland, and I am happy that, as missionaries sent to the poorest, we Spiritans have also participated in this great work of help by opening the doors of our homes, from the fourth day of the war.
To this day, we continue to welcome friends from Ukraine, as we call them. It is gratifying to see that some of them managed to return to Ukraine and reunite with their loved ones, while those who stayed behind are slowly finding their place in Poland. Children and young people are attending schools and kindergartens and most of our ladies have found jobs. Maybe not full time, but they earn a little for their expenses.
That's why we thought of helping not only at home but also in places particularly affected by the war. So far we have managed to organize two humanitarian convoys, carrying food, medicine, and cosmetics... The first one in June and the second one in September. Both of them went to Bucha Irpien, Borodzianka and surrounding villages of the Kiev region. I participated in all of them and I confess that it is an experience of the tragedy of war but also of the incredible gratitude of Ukrainians.
We took the liberty of using part of the funds you sent us to organize the second convoy. We can say that all the stoves and some of the food were bought thanks to you. Again, thank you very much for your help.
