This is an important time of prayer for the Church and our Cardinals. There are many suggestions for prayers and ways to pray during this process.

Pick a Particular Cardinal

Choosing one of the 135 Cardinals who will be tasked with electing the next Pope can help you focus your prayers and make a personal connection during this time. We would encourage you to pray for Spiritan Cardinal Dieudonné Nzapalainga, C.S.Sp. from the Central African Republic. You can learn more about Cardinal Nzapalainga in this article by Fr. Tony Neves, C.S.Sp. 

A digital resource called Adopt a Cardinal will randomly assign you a Cardinal to pray for, as well as offering suggestions for prayers and an easy way to share with others. You can see how many people are on the website at one time, pointing you to the larger community of praying Catholics. 

Pray for All the Cardinals

There are several novenas in progress to pray for the cardinals and the conclave. Your local diocese may be promoting one that you can join. Also, Pray More Novena's is currently hosting one where you pray the following prayer each day for 9 Days. 

• Heavenly Father, we pray in union with the whole Church for the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Cardinals. May the Princes of the Church listen attentively to Your Spirit during the conclave.
  
  Almighty God, we pray that the conclave brings us a Pope who pleases You by guiding Your Church to grow in faithfulness to You. We pray together with the intercession of our Mother Mary and all the Saints. Please Lord, protect and guide your Church during this time of transition.
  Amen.
