This Sunday, Jesus reminds us that wherever two people exist, there will be a difference of opinion. The Church is given the Sacrament of Reconciliation as Jesus’s presence among us to deal with conflicts beginning with ourselves.
A natural part of human relationships is conflict. These disagreements don’t have to lead to divisions. Even though humans may not want to change, Jesus puts faith in our ability to reconcile. Whether in our families, the church, or the workplace, we must seek reconciliation.
The loving and forgiving presence of Jesus is our hope. We may not be able to forget our conflicts, but we can change our hearts. We must not allow our bad memories to control us. Letting go of our hurts is not easy. God’s grace will lead us and guide us to healing.
We must learn to resolve conflicts and treat others with love and respect. Forgiveness must begin with each of us. As we reconcile, we can find peace to face another day.
