This Sunday is known as “Mission Sunday.” It is an opportunity to look at how the Christian faith is shared throughout the world. Jesus enters our world to show us how to love God and our neighbors.
Our human identity is in God, the maker of all things. We belong to God. We find meaning in sharing all that God has done for us. Our joy comes from witnessing and proclaiming God’s love for the world.
We give back to God the things that belong to God. Our love of God and neighbor speaks of our faith and obedience to God, the creator of everything. God has taught us everything. As missionaries, we acknowledge that God’s presence was there before the missionaries arrived.
We are all created in the image and likeness of God. We can see God’s hand in all creation. Through our baptism, we are all missionaries. We all belong to God.
As missionaries, we are light in a world often filled with war, suffering, and darkness. Unlike the coin of Caesar, we carry the image of God in our lives. As a part of our baptismal commitment, we give our all to God with all our heart, mind, and soul.
