This Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. This celebration reminds us that we are the Body of Christ. Jesus is revealed in each of us, especially when we gather around the table of the Lord and receive the Eucharist. This communion makes us one with Christ.
The Eucharist is our thanksgiving to the Lord, who leads us and guides us each day of our lives. Our identity as Christians is wrapped up in our belief, that Christ wants to share in our brokenness. It is only Christ who takes our broken pieces and puts them back together again. In Christ, we are made whole.
In the Eucharist, we share our lives, our stories, and our dreams, trusting in God’s goodness and mercy. Gathered around Christ’s table, we journey with each other on our road to wholeness. The real presence of Christ is alive in our world. It strengthens us and leads us back to God. We are all in various stages of brokenness. With the One God, we are given blessedness to keep us close to the source of all our joy.
Jesus invites us all to come to the table of God’s mercy not because we are perfect but because he knows our weaknesses. This is the feast of nourishment for the weak.
