The Spiritan Office for Mission Advancement (SOMA), established in 2012, is the resource for enabling the implementation of the evangelical priorities of the U.S. Province, and continuing its long-standing charism into the future serving of the poorest and most abandoned people the Congregation was founded to serve.
SOMA’s mission is to financially resource and practically support the missionary, educational, pastoral, humanitarian, and charitable projects and programs of the Congregation and the U.S. Province both in the United States and internationally.
Laudato Si’ calls for an action plan to respond to the concerns of the scientific community and the cries of people, planet, and future generations. The plan was designed to create communities around the world that are sustainable and just in the spirit of the integral ecology of Laudato Si’. Catholic organizations and religious orders are called to active involvement in a plan of action towards a life-sustaining world.
Since its inception, SOMA has been responding and will continue responding to several of the Laudato Si’ goals, namely: Response to the Cry of the Earth, Response to the Cry of the Poor, and Ecological Economics.
